Welcome to Contents May Shift: part newsletter, part stream-of-consciousness, part existential clown car.
The name’s a nod to those warning labels on packages telling you that whatever was carefully placed inside has probably been through some… inadvertent rearranging. That vibe fits this moment in the world (hello, AI Jesus podcasts // global economic pump-and-dumps // ‘oops we fired the nuke maintenance squad’ // Houthi PC group chats).
It also fits this moment in my life: 2025 began with funemployment, a breakup, an ATC-instigated airport assault, the harsh realization that my dog is dying, and a nasty bout of COVID. I thought we had moved on to more en vogue diseases, like the measles. Alas! Welcome to my “country song come to life” era.
Should you subscribe (obviously you should) you won’t find much consistency in subject or timing but you will get a variety of topics shaped by my curiosities and experiences. I spent the last decade-plus doing cancer research, then building hardware and biotech startups, then investing in them as a partner at Lowercarbon. Now I’m hanging up my spurs, (mostly) taking a real break from the workforce for the first time since I was 16, and trying to figure out what’s next both personally and professionally. Writing here is my version of learning out loud while I do that.
One day you may get a deep dive into AI, VC, exowombs, or why geoengineering is awesome. Other days it’ll be somatic therapy, tantra, meditation, or the eternal human search for meaning. You may get a handful of sentences on blood exports, an essay on why red states will be the true heroes of sustainability, or a full manifesto on the future of environmentalism. You may also get nothing, which means you’ll have to read the rest of your (definitely more boring) subs ‘til I’m back. Consider it an entertaining surprise mechanic.
It’ll be fun! Especially if you are also in a moment of shift, or if you like your internet reads human, unpredictable, and just slightly unhinged.
Thanks for reading. Let’s get weird.
🧠 Today’s Theme:
Some people write newsletters to build a brand. I’m writing one to figure out if I still exist.
Human reads are the best reads :)
